Even if a loved one did ask what was wrong, you wouldn’t know where to start. Money, your relationship, your body, the responsibilities you still have to face everyday in spite of all of it? They wouldn’t know how to help you anyway, and the last thing you want to do is be a burden.

Maybe you’re not as spiritual as you once were. All you want is to feel loved, but no matter what you do or how hard you pray, love always seems to come with a price. You constantly ask yourself, “is something wrong with me?” and feel further from God than ever, wondering if He has forgotten about you.

As Black women, we know how it feels to have to be “strong” all the time. Here, you get to lay that burden down and finally feel supported while we walk with you on the path to healing. 

Trust us, we’ve heard and been through it all, and we would never judge you for anything you choose to share in your sessions. No matter what you’ve been told in the past, expressing your feelings is not weak. We want you to walk away from therapy with us feeling validated, and knowing that you can be vulnerable AND keep your power.

How we work

You’ll learn how to say “no” to others so you can start saying “yes” to yourself and your own needs.

Together with your therapist, you’ll define what love means to you and the core values driving you to do what you do for others. Then, you’ll use what you’ve discovered as a lighthouse, guiding you toward a more fulfilling life. 

You’ll be able to fully let your walls down here, and let go of embarrassment and shame so you can get curious about what’s really going on beneath the surface.

Mind

There are so many factors that play into mental wellbeing, and we’ll teach you the tools to conquer whatever you’re going through with a level head and compassion for yourself. We know that for many, money is a HUGE source of mental stress. Your therapist will help you define your relationship with money, your financial goals, and provide resources and budgeting advice to help you get there. 

Body

We like to say that therapy is often “bottom-up,” meaning we’ve got to take care of the basics before tackling the big stuff. You’d be amazed how much stress and trauma our bodies hold on to physically. Your therapist will help you come up with a plan for regular movement, so you can feel more connected to your body and find release in a healthy way.

Spirit

If you’re a spiritual person, your therapist is happy to incorporate your faith into sessions. This could mean taking a deeper look at your relationship with God throughout your life,  bringing in prayer and scripture, and helping you relate what you’re going through to stories in the Bible. These stories often bring us peace in knowing that our struggles are just part of the human experience.
